Method: Oven or Smoker
Jump to RecipeThese Roasted Cinnamon Sugar Pecans have been a holiday tradition in our family for many years. They are also always one of our first items to sell out when we get to provide food to the public at BBQ events. These holiday treats are super easy to make and only require a few ingredients but are packed full of sweetness. Enjoy them all on your own or you can make small individual packages for your holiday cookie/treat exchange.

Making the Bourbon Cinnamon Sugar Pecans
To make the pecans you will need the following:
1 Pound Pecans- Use pecan halves for this holiday cinnamon sugar pecan recipe. Try to use fresh pecans if possible.
1 Cup White Sugar
1 Tablespoon Bourbon-You can use any bourbon for this recipe, though we prefer a wheated bourbon due to its sweeter flavor. The bourbon flavor in the pecans is fairly subtle, so don't worry if you are not a big bourbon drinker.
If you love bourbon as much as we do, however, be sure to check out our Maple Bourbon Hot Smoked Salmon, Campari Old Fashioned, and Bourbon Maple Pecan Pie.
1 Egg White- The egg white helps the cinnamon sugar stick to the roasted pecans.
¼ teaspoon Vanilla Extract- You can use any vanilla extract or real vanilla. We prefer to use a bourbon barrel aged vanilla for these bourbon pecans.
¾ teaspoon Salt
½ teaspoon Cinnamon
The recipe will make roughly 4 cups of Bourbon Cinnamon Sugar Pecans
Make the Cinnamon Sugar
Combine the sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl and mix to combine. Set aside.
Prepare the bourbon egg white mixture
For the egg white mixture beat together the egg white, bourbon, and vanilla, until foaming, in a bowl. This typically takes a minute or two.
Coat the Bourbon Cinnamon Sugar Pecans
To coat the pecans you will want to toss the pecan halves with the egg white mixture until evenly coated. We find it helpful to use a bowl with a lid to do this but you can stir it by hand as well.
Next, add in the sugar mixture and toss to combine. The pecan halves should be all evenly coated at this point.
Cooking the Cinnamon Sugar Pecans
Preheat your oven or smoker to 350 degrees. For this recipe, we find less is more if making this on a smoker, so we typically use our pellet smoker for roasting the pecans. You don't want to overwhelm the sweet, bourbon flavor with too much smoke.
Evenly spread the pecans on a cookie sheet or foil pan and cook for 1 hour, stirring every 20 minutes.
Allow to cool before eating. Enjoy as a snack or use some to add a sweat twist to our Fried Boursin Salad with Raspberry Vinaigrette.

The roasted pecans should be kept in an airtight container and will last for about 1 week and room temperature. When stored in the refrigerator, the candied pecans will keep for 2-3 weeks.
