Jump to RecipeThis alcoholic version of the classic Arnold Palmer is a cross with a classic bramble. The Hard Arnold Palmer is the perfect summer cocktail and is spiked with Southern Comfort and Blackberry brandy and served with fresh blackberries and a twist of lemon.
We are not going to lie, saying Southern Comfort Blackberry Bramble Style Arnold Palmer is a mouthful, but we could not think of a better way to explain this southern cocktail. When I was working the smoker one afternoon cooking up some Carolina Style Pulled Pork, I had an hankering for a refreshing, sweet, southern-style cocktail and this was the final result. It combines one of my wife's favorite summertime drinks, the Arnold Palmer, with the sweetness of blackberries and a slight bite from the Southern Comfort.

Preparing the Blackberry Bramble Style Arnold Palmer
Ingredients for the Hard Blackberry Arnold Palmer
This blackberry bramble-Arnold Palmer fusion cocktail only requires a few ingredients and can be made in under 5 minutes.
Blackberry Lemonade: We love the sweetness that the blackberries add to the cocktail, as they help to cut some of the acidity of the lemonade. If you have problems finding blackberry lemonade you can substitute regular lemonade or another fruit flavored lemonade like blueberry or raspberry.
Iced Tea: The other key ingredient to a classic Arnold Palmer is Iced Tea. We recommend using an unsweetened iced tea in the blackberry cocktail recipe as the drink will have enough sweetness from the other ingredients.
Southern Comfort: Southern Comfort is a fruit and spice flavored whisky popular in the south. The fruit notes from the Southern Comfort blend perfectly in the hard Arnold Palmer cocktail.
Blackberry Brandy: The addition of blackberry brandy completes the alcohol component of the blackberry bramble style Arnold Palmer. Other great substitutes would include blackberry moonshine.
Simple Syrup: A small amount of simple syrup adds the perfect amount of sweetness to the blackberry summer cocktail.
Garnishes: This alcoholic Arnold Palmer is garnished with fresh blackberries, a lemon twist, and served over ice.
Mixing the Hard Blackberry Arnold Palmer
To make the cocktail simply combine a half cup each of unsweetened tea and blackberry lemonade. Stir in 2 ounces of Southern Comfort.
Next stir in 1 ounce each of Blackberry Brandy and simple syrup. We have had great results with blackberry moonshine as well.
Finally, fill a mason jar, or your favorite glass, with some crushed ice and pour the mixture over it. Top the drink with a splash of lemon juice and garnish with some blackberries and a lemon wedge.
