This homemade Memphis style rib rub is perfect for dry rubbed ribs just like you get in Memphis. This rib seasoning is well balanced with just the right amount of savory, spicy, sweet and smoky notes.

Ingredients
  

  • ¼ Cup Kosher Salt
  • ¼ cup Paprika
  • 2 Tablespoons Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tablespoons Chili Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Black Pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon Dark Brown Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Yellow Mustard Seed
  • 2 teaspoon Celery Seed
  • 1 teaspoon Celery Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander Seed
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Thyme
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Rosemary
  • ½ teaspoon Accent MSG (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon Ground Coriander
  • ½ teaspoon Ground Allspice
  • ½ teaspoon Cayenne

Instructions
 

  • Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Store in an airtight container.
  • Use about 1 tablespoon of rub per pound of ribs or adjust to taste.

Notes

This recipe makes about 1 cup of rib rub.  We typically use about 1 tablespoon of rub per pound, which should be enough to season roughly 6-8 racks of ribs.
