The Kentucky Sidecar cocktail is a twist on the classic sidecar recipe. This sidecar recipe uses bourbon in place of the traditional brandy for the perfect drink to enjoy on those warm summer evenings or makes for a great Kentucky Derby inspired cocktail.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 Ounces Bourbon
  • 1.5 Ounces Orange Liqueur Cointreau, triple sec, or Grand Marnier
  • 1.5 Ounces Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1 Ounce Simple Syrup
  • 2 dashes Orange Bitters
  • Sugar for rimming the glass optional

Instructions
 

  • Coat the rim of 2 sidecar or cocktail glasses with a little water, simple syrup, or lemon juice. Rim the glass with sugar or orange sugar.
  • Add ice to a cocktail shaker and then add the bourbon, lemon juice, orange liqueur, simple syrup, and bitters. Shake for about 20 seconds, then pour into the glasses.
  • Any leftover liquid can be poured into shot glasses and served with the drink as a "sidecar".
