Southern Style Cheesy Jalapeno Grits

This southern side is kicked up a notch with the addition of jalapenos, cheddar and pepperjack cheese. The spicy grits are perfect for shrimp and grits or as a side to your favorite Southern meals.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Quick Cook Grits
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 2 cups Water
  • 2 Jalapenos diced
  • 1 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese shredded
  • ½ cup Pepperjack Cheese shredded
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1 teaspoon Salt

Instructions
 

  • Melt butter in a medium pot and saute jalapenos for about 3 minutes.
  • Mix in the salt, milk, and water and bring to a hard boil.
  • Whisk in the grits slowly, making sure they do not stick to the bottom.
  • Reduce heat to simmer, cover and cook for 7 minutes.
  • Remove the lid and stir the grits well, making sure it is well combined then stir in the cheese and stir for about 1 minute to combine.
  • Cover to keep warm until needed.
